Conrad Eye Care has some exciting news for 2025, we have the lovely Dr Alexander Newman joining our practice in February.
Dr. Alexander Newman is a consultant ophthalmologist and eye surgeon. As a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO), Dr. Newman has undergone extensive training in both general and subspecialty ophthalmology. After completing his general ophthalmology training in Queensland, he has completed subspecialty fellowships, including the Professorial Fellowship at Sydney Eye Hospital in 2024 and a comprehensive fellowship year at Mater Hospital Brisbane, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH), and the Queensland Ocular Oncology Service (QOOS) in 2023.
Dr. Newman has subspecialty training in complex cataract surgery, macular and diabetic eye disease, uveitis, and inherited eye conditions. He holds appointments at Conrad Eye Care, Griffith University, University of Sydney, RBWH and the Surgical, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Service (STARS), where he provides high-quality, patient-focused care to the community.
Dr. Newman’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Optometry with first-class Honors, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Griffith University, where he graduated with distinction. He further advanced his expertise by completing a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) at the University of Sydney with high distinction, equipping him with a strong foundation in advanced diagnostics and evidence-based eye care. Dr Newman is actively involved in research, teaching, and clinical trials of emerging therapies to improve patients’ quality of life.
Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Newman combines state-of-the-art technology with a personalised approach to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients. Whether performing precision eye surgery or managing complex eye diseases, he tailors each treatment to suit his patients’ unique needs and lifestyles, always striving to help them achieve their best possible vision.
